In 2011, HUD set a December 1 income limit target release date. However, in 2015, Congress changed how the extremely low-income limit was determined tying it to the release of the Health & Human Services poverty guidelines which are not released until mid- to late-January making it impossible for HUD to meet this target date. After receiving feedback from end-users indicating the unpredictable release of the limits causes undue burden users, HUD has set a new annual target release date of April 1. This year April 1 is a Sunday so HUD has further indicated it plans to release the 2018 income limits March 30. Of course, we will keep you informed of the actual release date but now have an estimated release date annually that we can use to help make our income limit-related plans.
